Surface Design class at Mendocino College Coast Center

Registration is now open for Fabric Printing and Dyeing I (ART176A-0176) and (Fabric Printing and Dyeing II (ART176B-0177) on the coast at the Fort Bragg Campus of Mendocino College.

Fabric Printing and Dyeing is Surface Design. In addition to learning and practicing the most common techniques associated with Surface Design (printing, dyeing, stamping, screen printing, stenciling, paste resists, clamp resists, color removal (discharge), layering of techniques onto fabric. We will also be dyeing merino wool roving for felting. And we will be dyeing silk and cellulose in a one pot dye method using TWO DIFFERENT color dyes in the SAME dye pot at the SAME time. This method yields stunning results on cut velvet (rayon/silk combinations). Yes, we will indigo vats up and running as well!

The administration at Mendocino College will be making a decision within the next week or so as to whether to run or cancel this class. If you are considering enrollment, please do it this week.

The class will be held on Saturdays from 9:30 am to 3:55 pm starting January 27, 2017.
