The Public Art Committee of Art Center Ukiah (ACU) is spearheading a downtown Ukiah mural project. They are working in conjunction with the Main Street Program to designate buildings that would benefit from the addition of painted murals and to secure the support of the building owners. The initial focus will be on historic or landscape murals, and they are hoping to put out a call to artists in the first quarter of 2017. They are also working with us, the Arts Council of Mendocino County, to apply for up to $18,000 worth of grant funding, which will need matching funds to be raised by our community. The community has already raised $7,000 and with your help they might be able to double or triple that amount.

So now is the time to make a contribution. Every dollar raised will likely be doubled by grant money, and all locally generated funds will go directly to the painting of murals. Contributions are tax-deductible.

Please make checks payable to “ACU” and write “murals” on the memo line. Checks can be mailed to Laura Fogg, 1143 W Church St, Ukiah 95482 or left at the Corner Gallery at 201 S State St in Ukiah. All donors will receive a thank-you in the mail with the ACU tax ID number.

Organizer Laura Fogg, states: “The Ukiah arts community thoroughly appreciates all support that can be generated by this direct appeal for monetary contributions. We do not want to use precious volunteer time organizing/paying for/cleaning up after spaghetti dinners or raffles. Our goal is to raise enough for at least five full-wall murals and get them painted by this time next year. We want all of you to have something to love in return for your generosity.
