We may not be running our typical program at Art Explorers right now, but we sure are keeping busy! In an effort to have our artists safely continue their fabulous artwork we have been doing supply deliveries to their homes. We are also offering twice weekly online video chat meetings where we check in with each other, share new work and come up with weekly art challenges.

We are currently holding a self-portrait contest for our artists. Submissions will be coming in soon and winners will be featured and displayed in our gallery windows and online.

Art Explorers welcomed a few new artists over the last few months, Chris and Wiley! We now have 40 artists in our program. Due to the Shelter-in-Place mandate we had to hold off on having our annual May show at the gallery. In an effort to share our artist’s new work with the public we are now offering more items for sale in our online shop!

Card sets, aprons, original artwork and coming soon, T- shirts! We are currently screen printing new t-shirt designs, dishtowels, and baby onesies! In addition to our online shop we are happy to arrange curbside sales if you see anything in the windows that you like.

We hope to reopen our in- studio program as soon as it is safe to do so. The studio will look a little different at first as we try to navigate the challenges of supporting artists here in the safest environment possible. We will be arranging individual workspaces and implementing new health and cleanliness procedures. We look forward to being open to the public in the future. We are immensely grateful for the support of the Redwood Coast Regional Center.

In these uncertain times we want to ensure that we keep our program running to enrich the lives of the artists and people in our community. As California struggles with a deficit due to COVID-19, we are trying to prepare for a loss in our funding. Please consider supporting us in any way that you can—a donation of any size really helps! We are also looking for supply donations, as we transition into opening our studio again.

If you have any unopened cleaning supplies such as cleaning wipes, Lysol or disposable gloves they would be greatly appreciated. We are also looking for certain art supplies— quality colored pencils, Prismacolor Art Stix, and large beads for jewelry making.

Donations are accepted online at: www.artexplorers.org Or by mail to the address below. Please call the studio if you have an in-person supply donation and we will arrange drop-off times.

At Art Explorers, our core belief is that all people have a unique artistic voice. Our program is able to sustain itself due to your generous support. All donations to Art Explorers go towards making art accessible for everyone!
