Ukiah Country Pumpkinfest

The Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off will be held October 14th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. The theme this year is “Planet Pumpkin”.

The event will include:

• Children’s Stage
• Food Vendors
• Scarecrow City
• Parade
• Scout O Rama
• Baking Contest-Presented by Schat’s Bakery
• Children’s Baking Contest- Decorating Division (12 & Under)
• Adult Baking Contest (Age 13 +)
• Pet Costume Contest & Dog Races
• Beer and Wine Garden

In 1993 the first pumpkin festival was a half-day event held on Safeway’s parking lot. It was a lot of fun with huge potential. Judy Pruden, member of the pumpkinfest steering committee, worked on the first festival and was sold on pumpkin potential for Ukiah. She took the idea forward to former Ukiah City Manager Candace Horsley and former Director of the Chamber of Commerce, Elizabeth Brazil, who soon had visions of pumpkin grandeur of their own. With the help and commitment from the City of Ukiah and Ukiah Chamber of Commerce, the first official Ukiah Country Pumpkinfest kicked off with the 1994 weigh-off, with more than 60 entries!
