The second-stage production showcases the insightful work of local playwrights Don Samson and Damian Sebouhian, with two plays from each writer covering themes from relationships, money, and sex, to crazy neighbors, burial, and empty-nesting.
In “Foreverville” written and directed by Don Samson, Rod Grainger and Kelly Kesey star as Harold and Meredith, a pair of middle-aged empty-nesters in a spirited exchange over death, burial, kids, money and some sex. Samson’s second play, “Leftovers”, is directed by David Partch and stars Ashley Rodriquez, Matt Gaynor, Kelly Kesey and Ron Greystar as two middle-aged couples and long-time friends who have fun mulling over one couple’s relationship going “stale”. The play sparkles with witty dialogue, unexpected funny twists and commentary on social issues, all popular earmarks of Samson’s previous hits at WCT.
“Not Now, Cupid,” by Damian Sebouhian and directed by Lee Stipe, follows two women played by Gloriann Lucero and Christy Carlton on a nature hike. One of them harbors a secret attraction and the ominous appearance of a stranger played by Rod Grainger puts the women on the defensive and true intentions emerge. Sebouhian’s second play also offers a climactic ending in “Resurrecting Snowflake”, starring Gloriann Lucero, Tori Perrault and Janet Denninger, and directed by Lee Stipe. A young couple is struggling to balance the needs of their relationship while their out-of-control dog keeps bothering the crazy neighbor. In the end, a climactic showdown reveals not everything is as it seems.
