Erik Jekabson is a well known trumpet player, composer, arranger and educator who calls the San Francisco Bay Area home. He has found time to release eight CDs out under his own name including 2020’s “One Note at a Time”.

According to concert co-producer Fred Adler, “master Bay area trumpeter/composer, Erik Jekabson, and spectacular flutist, Matt Eakle, are the perfect pair to dig deeply into the music of Miles Davis. Jekabson ’s recent discovery, the young pianist Robert Jackson, will add a stellar note to the concert.
Naturally, Jekabson reveres Miles’ constantly evolving and changing styles by the famous trumpeter’s own design. Gems from Miles’ ‘Kind of Blue’, ‘Miles Smiles’, and the controversial recording ‘Bitches Brew’ will be showcased. Jekabson’s own dynamic compositions, and arrangements will be performed as he rubs elbows and horns with Miles’ greatness!
Versatile coastal guitarist Chris Doering will join the group during the ‘Electric Miles’ section of the afternoon concert. I, as always, will M.C. comparing a bit of history about the enigmatic and controversial man known as Miles Davis. The fluid drummer Gabe Yanez and the powerful bassist, Pierre Archain will join the group for this performance.
