"Simple Beauty," Ann & Jon Maglinte

Northcoast  Artists Gallery is pleased to present the work of member artists Ann and Jon Maglinte.

Ann will be showing watercolors and hand dyed silk scarves, and Jon will be showing infrared photography, and cement garden art. Ann enjoys painting local landscapes and birds; florals and cats.  Jon will be showing landscapes and other subjects.

Thoughts from Jon and Ann: “When we create art we have the opportunity to look inside ourselves and reflect on the simple beauty that surrounds us. Simple beauty can take us to another place in time, perhaps only temporarily, but long enough to calm and restore us.

Each day we learn of more negative changes being made by our political system. Changes that will adversely affect the world for generations to come. This loss of freedom and human rights can make us feel powerless. To balance this, we need to look at what is really important to us in our personal lives. As artists we have been giving this situation a lot of thought. Life is indeed a gift and beauty is everywhere around us; reflected in our surroundings, song, our family, our pets, our home. Being aware and mindful of the simple beauty that is all around us us here in Mendocino county can take us to a place of quiet and peace, away from the everyday world. Art can create a very personal connection with others that has meaning and joy, when it is shared.

Please join the artists for a First Friday Opening Reception on August 3, from 5 to 8 pm. Refreshments will be served. Northcoast Artists Gallery is open daily from 11am – 5pm.
