August exhibit at Edgewater Gallery, Featured Artist: Neno Villamor

Visit the gallery in August to experience Neno Villamor’s hand-pressed paper casts. Neno’s August show features ocean and mermaid themes, emphasizing figure and movement with her unique paper cast medium.

Neno sheds light on her process, saying, “castings are done in my own blend of handmade paper from industrial hemp and Abaca (banana) fibers. Since I can recreate the image from a mold, I only make a new casting of a piece on demand and each one is embellished differently from the others that have been created before. This also allows my clients to request specific color palettes and embellishments for that image. Creating in this manner is referred to as Multiple Originals”.

She says, “sculpting has been the thread that has tied all my exploration of various materials together throughout my life as an artist”.

Edgewater Gallery is an artist collective currently celebrating our 20th year in business. The gallery is always staffed by one of the artists and we welcome you to come in, meet one of us, and share what we’ve created. We have a selection of works that include painting, photography, ceramics, wood bowls and tables, jewelry and mixed media works.

Edgewater will host an opening celebration on First Friday, August 4th from 5 to 8 pm. Light refreshments will be served.
