The Heavy Lifting project includes a book exhibit, experimental film, poetry, and conversation. At its core is an artists’ book, the outcome of a four-year collaboration between artist Felicia Rice of Moving Parts Press and poet Theresa Whitehill.

In 2020 a devastating megafire in the Santa Cruz Mtns. destroyed Felicia Rice's letterpress print shop of over 45 years and her complete inventory of Moving Parts Press artists' books.
This video by Frej Barty, a Mendocino High intern, celebrates the resurrection of the Press from ashes to complete recovery. The video gives thanks to the 800+ individuals, organizations, and institutions who made this possible.
It features the artists' book, Heavy Lifting, a close collaboration between artist Felicia Rice and poet Theresa Whitehill, published in 2022. First conceived in 2019, this limited edition artists' book took flight in spite of and because of personal and collective crises of the previous three years.
