Maralee Greene is a born maker, hands in clay since she was a child. Her path to ceramics led her up the coast from Pasadena to San Francisco and on to Fort Bragg years ago where she once had a studio called Mud Puppy Pottery.
Maralee tells us, “What I do with my work is try to make things the way I, myself, want them to be. That goes from cups and bowls to images of life and joy. I have a pretty firm fantasy life with my animals, there’s plenty of play time there.

World disasters, war, cluster bombs, struggles of the earth … it’s with us every day (if we choose). I like to show the other side. In my world, war mongers have no power. Business is fair and organized to help the planet survive and thrive. People don’t take more than they need.”
Perhaps we need more of the beauty of Maralee’s thoughts and creations in our lives. Her featured exhibit of delightful ceramics is entitled “Hands On.” Come and check it out at the Artists’ Co-op gallery from August 2nd to September 4th. .The Co-op is located at Kasten x Albion Streets in Mendocino, open daily from 11am to 4pm; meet the artist at the extended hours on Saturday August 12th from 4 to 7pm.
