Focus on Guatemalan Textiles

An exhibit of Guatemalan huipils and other weavings of Guatemalan fiber artists.

Pacific Textile Arts Gallery will celebrate the textiles of Guatemala during the month of March, 3-25.  The focus will be on a collection of Huipils (over blouses) donated by Victoria Danzig and Dr. Alan Nahum, augmented by examples from PTArts’ extensive collection of Guatemalan fiber art.  The weavers of Guatemala are recognized for their skill at the backstrap loom, with intricate colorful imagery and embroidery.

There will be a follow up program Saturday morning, March 4, as part of Pacific Textile Arts’ monthly Program Series.  Meet and Greet 10:00-11:00, then a presentation of additional Guatemalan textiles from PTArts’ collection, with informal commentary from Annie Lee, Marlene Placido, Nancy Reynolds and Lolli Jacobsen.  All are welcome; donations appreciated.
