Smiling Eyes
Great gobs of color, shapes and lines will greet visitors to Edgewater Gallery this month, as featured artist, Chris Hagie is showing her latest abstract mixed media work. Her goal is to make our “eyes smile” with the intersection of unique elements in an attempt to lure your sense of well-being into a seductive place of contentment. Chris’ non-objective abstracts can largely be viewed as separate from actual visual representation in the world, but she finds inspiration during walks on the Northern California coast, in forests of Redwood and other large trees, and also from the energy when visiting urban areas. Artists from the Abstract Expressionist period in the US influence her work as well as the many art teachers and artists she has learned from over the last 20 years.
Chris has been a member of Edgewater Gallery for two years. She moved to Fort Bragg 4 years ago, after retiring from a long career in education, preparing teachers at San Jose State University and teaching and consulting with school districts. She has taken many art classes over the years. She is on the board of Art Explorers in Fort Bragg and loves to work in the art studio and gallery there.
