11th Biennial Mendocino Figure Drawing Collective Exhibit

The Mendocino Art Center presents the 11th biennial figure drawing exhibit by members of the Mendocino Figure Drawing Collective (MFDC), For millennia, the human body has been revered in Western Art for its exquisite architecture and complex sensuality. The nude is a powerfully expressive vehicle for such diverse functions as myth, religion, fantasy, political allegory, titillation, and science. Drawings of the human form are now recognized both as preparatory studies for more elaborate work, and as objects having enduring value in and of themselves.

MFDC artists who will be exhibiting their work are Dorothy Ayres, Susan Barnes, Dan Barrett, Ene Bender, Becky Bowen, Kathy Carl, Hugh Dignon, Bruce Fletcher, Steve Garner, Gemma, Patrick Keller, Dale Moyer, Don Paglia, Robert Ross, Fred Struthers, Janice Sullivan, Larry Thomas, Miriam Wadiaeff and Jeanne Williams.

The MFDC is a loose-knit group of local and visiting artists and models, meeting weekly for the past 27 years. The group has served hundreds of artists, inspired thousands of drawings, and has presented a dozen or so group exhibitions. Current sessions meet each Wednesday, 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the Mendocino Art Center.
