Experience the thrilling process of live fire raku! In this unique and one of a kind process, pottery is pulled out of the kiln at red hot temperatures and submerged in combustible materials which cover the surface of the pottery and react with the glazed and unglazed areas. The results are instantaneous and excitingly unpredictable with lively colors, crackle glazes, metallic finishes and rich black clay surfaces.
Participants will learn how to glaze pottery for Raku firing and will be an integral part of the firing process. Students will fire the kiln, handle the reduction chambers, and pull the pottery out to remove the char and to discover their dazzling creations.
