Exhibit Statement

Cannabis has a long and colorful history in Mendocino County, and it affects both residents and visitors in diverse ways. It has fueled our economy for years and has recently become legal.  With 20/20 hindsight on half a century of local cannabis cultivation and use, it’s time to speak about the different aspects of how it speaks to all of us.  We are asking artists to visually interpret their own experiences with cannabis. How has it affected you or your environment? We are looking for work in any visual medium, both two and three-dimensional. We welcome and encourage both positive and negative responses.

This will be a juried show. Those deciding on pieces for the show will be David Burton of the Grace Hudson Museum and Allysum Wier of the Arts Council of Mendocino.

This show will open in Willits Center for the Arts in May 2023  Art Center Ukiah in June 2023, and then Gualala Art Center in July 2023.

The show, opens at Willits Center for the Arts on May 6, 2023
