Employment Opportunity: Mendocino Art Center Director of Arts and Education
The Mendocino Art Center (MAC) is in transition from providing its services online during the Covid crises to reopening its campus in a still Covid impacted environment with the addition of onsite classes, exhibitions and events that complement the online offerings.
MAC needs to restructure itself for this reopening through expanding its operations to provide all its services to delight its customers while being effective and cost efficient.
MAC is looking for a qualified, effective and inspirational arts organization leader to fill the position of Arts Director.
The responsibilities include:
1) executing a leadership role in partnership with the Finance & Operations Director in this reopening phase to stabilize, improve and expand MAC’s services and revenue streams while controlling its costs,
2) working in partnership with the Finance & Operations Director with the board, advisors and staff to develop and execute an operations strategic plan and put it in place that results in a sustainable and valuable resource to its community for the long term.
3) to work in partnership with the Finance & Operations Director with the board, advisors and staff to develop and lead an organization that raises money from donors, institutions, and sponsors and sells its heritage art assets to assure long term financial stability.
The goal is to have this person in place in October.
MAC is particularly interested in hiring a person with demonstrated leadership ability and potential who values arts’ role in society, loves the Mendocino area and lives here or will relocate here quickly. MAC is looking for a person who will thrive on the challenge of improving our art center, developing our staff, and taking ownership and pride in its purpose, growth and financial health.
