January- GREAT ESCAPES (benefit for the Bahamas)

When the mercury drops and the north wind blows through our PolarFleece, we winter-weary folk indulge in dreams of an exotic tropical paradise where it never freezes. What is your vision of the perfect winter getaway? We are looking for works in all media, both two and three-dimensional. Any work that is donated will be included in a silent auction to benefit the recovery effort of the Bahamas following Hurricane Dorian.

Open to all Mendocino and Lake County residents, $25 fee for the first entry, $10 for each subsequent entry, with checks made out to Art Center Ukiah. Completed entry forms and all ready-to-hang work (NO sawtooth hangers) must be delivered for jurying to the Corner Gallery (201 S State St in Ukiah) no later than noon on Thursday January 2. Artists are encouraged to email photos of their submissions to acuentries@yahoo.com by the middle of December for possible inclusion in the publicity for the show. A refund will be given to the artist for any work not accepted in the show.

The First Friday show opening is January 3 from 5-8pm.

All unsold work must be picked up from the gallery at the end of the show on Tuesday, February 4.

February- Quick Draw III

If you are a figurative artist and would like to participate in the annual Quick Draw demonstration, please email Jacquie at jlolich@pacific.net by the middle of January. Participation in this event will be by invitation only. Live models will be drawn by the selected artists, while gallery visitors look on and admire the process. Wall art created by the participating artists will be on display throughout the month, as well as drawings they create during the event.

The First Friday live event is February 7 from 5-8pm.

March- Artist in Residence

We will debut our exciting new Artist in Residence program this month, so stay tuned. This show will not be open to the public. Details will be announced on the ACU website.

The First Friday show opening will be on March 6 from 5-8pm.

April- Our Precious Planet

In honor of Earth Day in April, we invite artists to create pieces in all media that relate to our environment, global warming, or the immense beauty of our planet. Both two and three-dimensional entries are welcome.
