Alyssum Wier | Executive Director

alyssum-lgACMC Executive Director, Alyssum Wier, joined the Arts Council over ten years ago.

She has managed the studios of contemporary artists in New York City; was the assistant director at a contemporary art gallery in New York City; consulted for national foundations; managed membership and the annual conference for Grantmakers in the Arts (Seattle); and completed internship programs at the Alliance for the Arts (NY) and the Smithsonian American Art Museum (DC).

Alyssum holds an M.A. in Arts Administration from Columbia University and has taught at Mendocino College. She is on the Mendocino County Tourism Commission’s Marketing Committee and formerly served as vice-chair of the Mendocino County Promotional Foundation and a member of the Steering Committee of Leadership Mendocino.

Alyssum is also an artist when she is not too busy as an arts administrator. She is a jeweler and weaver, and also loves to experiment with leather, natural dyes such as indigo and cochineal, sewing, and painting. Learning a new form of craft is one of the great pleasures of life! Alyssum graduated from Kenyon College in 1996 with a B.A., double major in English Literature (poetry emphasis) and Psychology; and from Teachers College, Columbia University in 2004 with an M.A. in Arts Administration.
