Introduction
This GASP Model Integrated Arts Project presented by arts educator and GASP Professional Development Program Consultant Cathleen Micheaels at the Arts Council’s 3rd Annual Open Eyes, Hearts and Minds—The Transformative Power of Learning Through the Arts institute provides resources for integrating the literary and visual arts through poetry writing, printmaking and bookmaking which draw on the spirit and tradition of the great Chilean poet Pablo Neruda’s odes, utilize age-appropriate writing templates and brainstorming techniques to build and strengthen language skills and introduce simple tools and materials that allow students to explore the basic elements of art. For an overview of the project, access the GASP Model Integrated Arts Project PDF. For the referenced handouts, access the Supporting Handouts PDFs.
