Art Exhibit-Reception to Honor Students of Adele Pruitt

at BARRA of Mendocino

Everyone is invited to Barra of Mendocino on Sunday, December 10, 2017, 2:00 – 4:30 for an art exhibition and reception featuring the 2017 work of the student-artists who have been studying with Master Art Teacher, Adele Pruitt.
The paintings will be on display from Saturday, December 9th through Wednesday, December 13th. Barra of Mendocino is located at 7051 North State Street, Redwood Valley. The winery will be open for wine tasting during the reception.

Each year the annual Pruitt Student Exhibit at the Barra Winery draws a huge crowd to celebrate Pruitt’s student-artists. “Again this year, Pruitt says, “the exhibit will be extensive with each of the students showing several paintings.
I expect this to be a joyous occasion to honor the efforts of these artists who strive to accomplish the goals I present, but my emphasis is always on growth and achievement as opposed to competition.”

Adele Pruitt offers a range of classes in various media for all levels of students who come from the Greater Ukiah Area and beyond. Past painting classes have included: Old World Painting, the Barbizon School, the Sunny Sea, Tonalism, Arbitrary Color, and Icons with Gold-Leaf.

Pruitt says, “To ensure success for my students, I’ve adapted a teaching method I call ‘paint-alongs’, where my students learn to plan the design, mix the colors, and complete their paintings along with my class demonstrations
and instructions.” She also has advanced students who apply their knowledge by creating their own compositions.

Recently celebrating her 95th birthday has not slowed down Adele’s ongoing stamina and enthusiasm in creating new classes. She regularly offers four different series of eight-week morning classes.

A Beginning Class will begin in January 2018.

Adele Pruitt has been teaching in Ukiah since 1969, when she launched her gallery and framing business, Renaissance Gallery. She was also the first art instructor at Mendocino College in 1973. Pruitt is known nation-wide for the fine art of preserving artwork from the past. To make an appointment for Pruitts’ Fine Art Restoration or classes, contact Adele Pruitt: 462.7193.
