Sixth Annual Artist-Writers Collaboration
The Artists’ Co-op of Mendocino is hosting the exhibit for EKPHRASIS VI, the sixth annual collaboration between the Co-op and the California Writers Club of the Mendocino Coast. Ekphrasis, which means art describing other art, features 21 anonymously and randomly paired writers and visual artists (that’s 42 participants total). For 10 pairs, writers have responded to 2-D or 3-D visual art; and for the remaining 11 pairs, visual artists have responded to writings.
Come to the Second Saturday reception October 14th (5-8pm) with brief Artists/Writers’ talks at 5:30. Meet the authors and visual artists as they meet each other. The Co-op gallery is located on the NW corner of Kasten and Albion Sts in Mendocino. For a quieter appreciation of the works, visit the gallery during open hours 10:30-5 daily.
The exhibit is up Oct 4th through Nov 6. On Thursday, Nov 19 at 6PM, participating authors will read their stories, accompanied by a slide show of the visual art, at the Mendocino Writers meeting in the Mendocino Hotel Garden Room. Public invited.
