FBCA-Coast Chamber Concerts presents a piano concert on October 8, 3pm, at Preston Hall.

We are delighted to be able to present Shostakovich’s great vocal-instrumental suite, Seven Romances on Poems by Alexander Blok. The songs are set with a variety of instrumental combinations with voice. Though often foreboding, with intimations of disaster, they end with acceptance and serenity brought by the power of music. This important work will be performed by: Burke Schuchmann, the cellist with the golden tone; Miles Graber, a favorite accompanist in the Festival and this Music Series; the fine violinist George Hayes; and French soprano Paula Wilder Gaubert who enchanted her audience two years ago.

Other works on this extraordinary program are the Mendelssohn Cello Sonata in D major, and the Brahms C Major Piano Trio
