"Draw til You Drop 2017" April 1st in Willits

at Willits Center for the Arts

!!! Hello Fellow Artists !!!
Draw til You Drop ‘17– April 1 – til ???
(who knows when it will end?)

DtYD will be held at the Willits Center for the Arts this year & will be a fundraiser for WCA & the Arts Council of Mendocino County

???? Will you be there MaKiNg ARt with us ????

We’ll be at WCA to set up on Friday – the day before our event- from 3 – 7 pm The opening of the “Art Under 20” show will also be happening during this time

Any of you who’d like to bring your art supplies, tables, chairs, easels, etc to set up then, we’ll be there. WCA has only two 8’ & twelve 6’ tables, there will be LOTS of sharing tables unless a few people bring a special drawing table that you’ll want to use. There are plenty of chairs, but if you have a special one, or want to bring extra cushions to make yourself comfortable, please do.

If you will be using paint or any other materials that would stick to the floor – please bring a tarp! We have a few available – but please let us know if you need to use one of ours.

Here’s our participating artists list –Quite a TEAM!!!

Louisa Aronow, Carolyn Bakewell, Colette Crutcher, Adriana Daikin, Susie Dean, Jon Engdahl, Laura Fogg, Keith Hendricks, Willow Jackson, Rossi Jensen, Megan Kasuyama, Angelia Leal, Ann Maglinte, Rachelle Martinez, LaRae Mercer, Elizabeth Raybee, Dina Riggi, Danna Rosenheimer, Ursula Schlichting, Divora Stern, Esther Siegel, Janae Stephens, Alyssum Wier

*** I’ve also sent this to a very small group of artists who have expressed strong interest but haven’t nudged themselves off the ‘maybe’ list. If you want to join in the FUNdraiser – please let me know NOW!!! ***

Draw = Make Art in this event…anything without fumes, noise &/or flying objects that might disturb your neighbors will work…Paint, Crochet, Collage, Sew, Felt, Clay…or some variety thereof.

Beverly’s Fabrics & Crafts, as in past years, will be donating a variety of colorful material for any of us to use, but these are fun supplements, you should bring all you need to last the length of your time there.
We’ll start ArTing at 10 am, Saturday morning. There will be timed breaks that we’ll all take together. Instead of taking 5 minutes after each hour, many of them will be combined, so that we can work 3 hours straight, then have 15 or 20 minutes for dinner break. You can take bathroom breaks as needed, or wander to other artists tables during work time – but only if you take a portable drawing book with you (I’ll provide a few of them!) & work while you can!!!

All meals, lots of snacks & drinks will be provided while you work. Good live music by several local players will happen at various times throughout the day & night & some poetry reading to inspire us!
Lot’s of Black Oak Coffee – mmmmmmm!!!
Kemmy’s Pies for desert!!!

What do YOU need to DO????

A very important part of our job here is t find SpOnSoRs!!! I’ve attached a sponsor sign-up form. Each participant must have a minimum of $15. per hour (or $180. in flat rate donations) in sponsorship before the event begins. Remember, this is the minimum – we’re doing this for FUN & FUND-raising!

Sponsors can be signed up by asking friends, family, students, teachers & co-workers or businesses you frequent, in person, by phone, email or on Facebook. You may be pleasantly surprised just how many people will donate to support YOU because you’re excited about & committed to making art for manymany hours, or they may donate to support the Arts Council because they love it that they send artists into schools all over the county – or BOTH!!! All donations are tax deductible & we’ll send the tax ID # to those who donate.

Any sponsors who want to write you a check or donate cash when they sign up before the event will make our collection job easier. IF you know how many hours you plan on ARTing, giving checks to you may be the simplest way. BUT – since the majority of sponsorship is per hour – we will be contacting them directly BY EMAIL following the event. We’ll send them a picture of you in action!

Any Checks can be written to: ACMC

SO – we need emails of sponsors who haven’t donated in advance!

If they don’t send in payment, by check or paypal in a couple of weeks after emails, we’ll follow-up with a call, so phone #s should be collected, too.

Sign people up to pledge (either per-hour or lump sum) to donate as your sponsor. It’s easy – Just carry your sign-up sheet with you & talk with excitement about your art-making plans &/or announce it on Facebook or send an email to your friends & family – they’ll love it!
Many people who come to watch will donate or pledge to sponsor participating artists – BUT – Sponsorship of a minimum of $15.per hour is required before the start of the event. That’s what will make it a successful fundraiser for the Arts Council.

Please bring your sponsor sheets, with all phone & email info, with you!!! We’ll be making copies & returning one to you to have at your table. This will make it easier for ACMC when the pledges come in, since many people forget to write the artist’s name on their check…we’ll know who they’re sponsoring.

Commit to 12 hour minimum participation. The record last year was 29 hours – the Mendo County record is 36 hours. I hope YOU can set the new record! Making your art in the fine company of other visual & performing artists is inspiring & always lots of fun for you & our visitors!!!

Choose one piece (large or small) that you’ve worked on at DtYD to donate as a prize to the person who Drops last.
There are prizes for ALL who last 24 hours & more for the 3 artists who draw the longest & the 3 artists who raise the most sponsor donations for Willits Center for the Arts & the Arts Council of Mendocino County, who sends artists into schools all over the county!!!

List of confirmed prize donors (There will be MORE!!!)
Dragon’s Lair – Orr Hot Springs– Three Sisters – Habitat – Unique Boutique –Adam’s Restaurant– Firefly Framers – Emandal Farm – Cat’s Meow – Gateway Games – Mendo Books – Incognito- Campo Fina Restaurant – GroutCamp – San Hedrin Nursery – Romi’s Brew & BBQ

Please let me know if there’s questions you have that aren’t covered here.
!!! Looking forward to working with you to make art while raising $$$ for the Arts !!!
