The Mendocino Figure Drawing Collective’s (MFDC) 10^th Biennial Exhibition at the Mendocino Art Center includes the most sensual and mature work of the group to date, with sixty dynamic drawings by featured artists Jeanne Williams, Miriam Wadiaeff, Fred Struthers, Robert Ross, Don Paglia, Dale Moyer, Sanna Koski, Patrick Keller, Steve Garner, Gail Coulson, Lillian Cartwright, Kathy Carl, Becky Bowen, Gemma Barsby and Daniel Barrett.

The drawing group has been meeting weekly for 25 years, primarily as part of the Art Center’s traditional arts program. A loose-knit association of artists and models, MFDC has served hundreds of local and visiting artists, has generated many thousands of figure studies, and has been honored with a dozen or so group exhibitions. The workshops are founded on centuries-old principles of art, treating the human body as a source of structural anatomy observation, empathy, visual pleasure, and graphic inspiration.

MFDC welcomes drop-ins at their Wednesday afternoon uninstructed sessions. Current fees are $11 per three-hour session, or $10 per session paid by the month. Bring your own materials (no solvents).

Join us prior to the gallery reception as we open up the art studios. Starting at 4:00 p.m. and continuing until 8:00 p.m., the Mendocino Art Center will also open its art studios to the public. Meet the 2016/17 Artists in Residence, watch them work and view new artwork created in the Mendocino Art Center studios. Refreshments will be available.
