The Willits Community Theatre will present a reading of a new play, “The Christians”, by Lucas Hnath on Friday March 9 and Saturday March 10, both shows at at 8pm.
The play tells the story of what happens when the pastor of an evangelical mega-church tells his congregation that Hell does not exist. This causes a split in the church. Attempting to smooth over the split causes repercussions in the pastor Paul’s marriage and in his soul. According to the Theater Communications Group, a theatre organization consisting of more than 400 regional and local theatres in the United States, The Christians was among the top 10 most produced plays in the USA from September 2016 to August 2017.
Tickets for The Christians are $5 and are only available at the door. The Willits Community Theatre is located at 37 West Van Lane in Willits, just a block west from Mazahar, which is located at 38 South Main Street in Willits.
