Intricate simplicity and strong design are trademarks of Hyder’s color photography on view at Edgewater Gallery as featured artist in January 3-31 First Friday opening January 5th at 6pm.
Happy Hyder began taking and printing photographs in black and white in San Francisco some 40 years ago. Gaining an astute sense of structure and composition, she moved seamlessly into color photography. Her work draws the viewer in, revealing details, textures, color shifts. Two winters ago she came to Mendocino turning her lens to the angles of architecture, the headlands, old cars, not to mention the ravens.
Once a member of Vida Gallery in San Francisco, she has found a new home at Edgewater. She also is working with Flockworks on their Women Artists Beyond Reason that will honor Debra Scott this year.
First Friday Opening reception from 5 to 8 pm. Artist talk at 6 pm. Light refreshments. Free event. The artist will also be in the gallery January 6th.
