GRACES ON MAIN AND HOYMAN-BROWE GALLERY- will not be open this First Friday. December 4 & 5, The Ukiah Valley Artists Co-op will kick off their Holiday Art Show at the Pear Tree Shopping Center on Friday, December 4th. The sneak preview starts at 1 pm. At 4 pm there will be appetizers, hot toddies, sweet treats and holiday music. They will be open until 8 pm so you have plenty of time to stop in as part of the First Friday Art Walk. December 6, SPACE (Near & Arnold's School of Performing Arts & Cultural Education) presents a Spanish-language celebration, the first Festival de Cri-Cri, the brainchild of Anibal and Sara Barragan, who wanted to introduce the youth of Ukiah to this rich treasure trove. Singers, actors, dancers, teachers and children were recruited and each group given a song to perform. Youth from Nokomis and Calpella Elementary Schools, as well as SPACE students ages five to eighteen will be performing. The show will include fifteen to twenty songs and stories, all delightful to a family audience. December 30, The Fort Bragg Center for the Arts Music Series presents pianist Jannie Lo, one of the finest scholarship students ever to go through the Music Festival's Young Artists Program. She will perform with magnificent cellist Burke Schuchmann in FBCA's annual "Eve of New Years' Eve" house concert and festive supper. The young pianist, who has been performing in SF since the age of 10, is a recent graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of John Hopkins University and an exciting new star. Mr. Schuchmann, the Bay Area cellist with the big warm tone, is a local favorite for his many performances with the Music Festival, the FBCA Music Series, and the Symphony of the Redwoods.
