Through December 24, Mendocino Quilt Artists Guild Exhibit in Downtown Ukiah – a delightful self-guided walking tour of an unparalleled art quilt exhibit. These local, hand-crafted works of art are presented by the downtown merchants surrounding the courthouse, and may be viewed day or night between November 28th and December 24th. Your guide to the walking tour can be picked up at the Ukiah Chamber of Commerce (200 South School Street, Ukiah), many downtown businesses, and can be downloaded at www.downtownukiah.com. Through December 28, The Gualala Arts Life Drawing group put up a Nothing But Nudes show in the art center mezzanine. Its our “best of 2008” show, by our leaders, Tom Warnock and Mike Mee, plus Dorise Ford, Arna Means, Neil Metcalf, Jack O’Rourke, Esther Munger, Ron Sackman, Bruce Jones and probably a couple of others by the time you see it. December 3 – March 8, Lon Megargee: Legendary Prints of the Southwest – Arizona's original and best-known cowboy artist, will be on exhibit featuring almost 50 of Megargee's rare woodblock and lithographic prints, along with selected examples of his other artwork. December 3, Mendocino Theatre Company's 2008/2009 Reading Series: The Seafarer, by Conor McPherson: four men find themselves together for a game of poker in Dublin on Christmas Eve. December 4 – January 5, Small Works Show. Partners Gallery welcomes the Holiday Season as an opportunity to display smaller art works (less than 16” in any direction) as well as a fun assortment of handmade one-of-a-kind decorations by gallery artists. December 5, Barbara Ware and Don Pagano will be showing their art work, prints and cards at the Mendocino Environmental Center, 106 West Standley St. in Ukiah on between 5 pm and 8 pm as a newly added venue to the First Friday Ukiah Art Walk. Please come and enjoy the artwork as well as snacks to sip and sup. Amber will be available for Tarot card readings and you may have an opportunity for a radio interview with Sue-Jen on KMEC. December 5 – December 31, Edgewater Gallery is celebrating the Holiday Season by presenting a special “benefit sale” for the Fort Bragg Food Bank. Artists will donate designated art pieces for this “benefit.” All Artist and Gallery proceeds (100%) will be donated to the Fort Bragg Food Bank. December 6, Holiday Ceramics Sale – Potluck, The College of the Redwoods ceramic students will host their annual sale of functional pottery and art pieces. December 29, The Mendocino Theatre Company is proud to be hosting an evening of family Holiday entertainment with antique Czech puppets, music and singing by the San Francisco based Theatre de la Liberté. The presentation is entitled Comedy About a Star and features the exceptionally talented Czech puppeteer Radek Tuma, from the Academy of Performing Art in Prague. The evening’s entertainment combines the 19th century Czech folk winter play of the Incoming Star with physical performance art, Christmas carols, 100 year old puppets and classic humor of the Czech field workers.
