| More than 40 wooden whales, decorated by local artists, were displayed in coastal businesses during February and March 2007, and sold at silent auction on Sunday, March 18, 2007. Proceeds from this event benefited the programs of the Arts Council of Mendocino County, the Mendocino Coast Chamber of Commerce's Student Scholarships, and Kiwanis' Toys for Kids.
