New Art News: David Hance

David Hance

Ukiah resident and former Arts Council vice president, David Hance, was recently appointed as president of the Arts Council of Mendocino County. Hance replaces Linda Prial, former Arts Council president, Arts Council board member since 2001, and Chair of the Mendocino County Cultural Plan Steering Committee.

An actor and singer since the age of 10, Hance has performed locally with Ukiah Players Theatre and Mendocino College. He is a founding member of the vocal group Tin Pan Alley, past Board member and Board president of Ukiah Players Theatre, and Marketing Manager for the Mendocino County Alliance. Having moved to Mendocino County in 1981 to work for Fetzer Vineyards, Hance has extensive local, national and international experience in the wine industry. Hance is currently co-owner of Rainmaker Marketing LLC, helping clients in many fields tell their unique stories. He has been a member of the Arts Council board since 2002.

Regarding her resignation, Linda Prial said "I am so sad to be leaving the ACMC. My experience on the Arts Council board has affirmed my strong belief that Mendocino County is an extraordinary place with exceptional people. While I am sad to leave, I know the ACMC is in excellent hands. David Hance is uniquely suited through his work in the arts and his knowledge of the county to take the helm of the ACMC board. I know that his energy and commitment will ensure successful implementation of ‘Bridges to the Future,’ the new county cultural plan."

Upon accepting the presidency, Hance said "Arts have engaged me my entire life, and I'm delighted to be an arts advocate in Mendocino County. We're going to miss Linda Prial's enthusiasm and commitment, but I look forward to continuing her efforts, working with my fellow Arts Council board members and artists around the County."
