NEW ACMC EXECTUTIVE DIRECTOR

Mendocino resident Anna Kvinsland was appointed Executive Director of the Arts Council of Mendocino County in March 2003. Ms. Kvinsland replaces Colleen Schenck, the founding Director of the Arts Council. Michael Addison, President of the Arts Council Board of Directors said “Colleen Schenck has done a spectacular job and we are very fortunate that she has agreed to remain on our board of directors. We are doubly fortunate that Anna Kvinsland will bring extensive experience in Arts Administration and a fresh vision as she assumes her new position."

Kvinsland comes to the Arts Council with a Master of Arts degree in Arts Administration and a lifetime of arts experience. Prior to moving to Mendocino County, she worked for the Public Art Department of the San Francisco Arts Commission. Kvinsland's professional art experience also includes Gallery Manager for a fine art gallery in Seattle, WA. Growing up, she studied ballet, piano, and oboe.

The Arts Council of Mendocino County, a two year old organization, seeks to expand opportunities for artists and arts organizations, supports art education, promotes the role of the arts in the local economy, and increases public awareness of the value of the arts. The Arts Council also serves as a clearinghouse for arts information by publishing a website and quarterly newsletter, maintaining an artist slide registry and directory, and coordinating an informational booth, hands on art activities, demonstrations and performances of local artists and organizations at the Mendocino County Fair in September. Artists and arts organizations are encouraged to become members of the Arts Council in order to take full advantage of the services it offers. To find out more about the Arts Council of Mendocino County, please visit its website at www.artsmendocino.org. To contact Anna Kvinsland, email director@artsmendocino.org or call 707-961-5449. The mailing address is P.O. Box 1393, Fort Bragg, CA 95437.

Kvinsland says that she looks forward to meeting and working with those involved in the arts in this county.
