ACMC EXECTUTIVE DIRECTOR
Mendocino
resident Anna Kvinsland was appointed Executive
Director of the Arts Council of Mendocino County in March 2003. Ms. Kvinsland
replaces Colleen Schenck, the founding Director of the Arts
Council. Michael Addison, President of the Arts Council Board of Directors said Colleen
Schenck has done a spectacular job and we are very fortunate
that she has agreed to remain on our board of directors.
We are doubly fortunate that Anna Kvinsland will bring extensive
experience in Arts Administration and a fresh vision as
she assumes her new position."
Kvinsland comes to the Arts Council with a Master of Arts
degree in Arts Administration and a lifetime of arts experience.
Prior to moving to Mendocino County, she worked for the
Public Art Department of the San Francisco Arts Commission.
Kvinsland's professional art experience also includes Gallery
Manager for a fine art gallery in Seattle, WA. Growing up,
she studied ballet, piano, and oboe.
The
Arts Council of Mendocino County, a two year old organization,
seeks to expand opportunities for artists and arts organizations,
supports art education, promotes the role of the arts in
the local economy, and increases public awareness of the
value of the arts. The Arts Council also serves as a clearinghouse
for arts information by publishing a website and quarterly
newsletter, maintaining an artist slide registry and directory,
and coordinating an informational booth, hands on art activities,
demonstrations and performances of local artists and organizations
at the Mendocino County Fair in September. Artists and arts
organizations are encouraged to become members of the Arts
Council in order to take full advantage of the services
