Debra Beck Lennox Featured Artist through April at ACM

Debra Beck Lennox’s continuing love of the Pacific has inspired new artworks in various media, depending on her vision. She paints in watercolor, oil, acrylic & is currently a printmaker. Abalone diving has inspired her underwater scenes, as she wants to share the unique world and its inhabitants that are right here, below the surface. The Pacific Coast is challenged by natural and manmade threats that upset the balance of life below the surface. Debra hopes her artwork brings heightened awareness of the beauty and mystery of that world.

Debra’s artwork has been influenced by her participation in the Mendocino Eco Artists as well as the Miasa/Omachi Sister Cities Artist Exchange. She discovered printmaking while visiting Japan and through classes at the Mendocino Art Center was able to translate her artistic talent into new skills in woodblock & linoleum printing as well as the non-toxic process of solar plate etching. Every once in awhile, Debra picks up her paintbrush and indulges in her love of pure color as a counterpoint to the black and white world of printmaking.

Debra explores a wide range of subject matter related to life on the Mendocino coast, from her studio under the redwoods to ocean inspired themes. This show will celebrate the ocean again, as current political times dictate standing up for what is precious and healthy. Debra believes our ocean is worth protecting as a unique and healthy influence on our life here on the coast. This year is especially poignant as the abalone diving season is closed to encourage their recovery.

Debra is a long time member of the Artists Co-op of Mendocino and is looking forward to sharing her vision at the Artist’s Talk on Second Saturday April 14th at 5:30pm.
